The CONTOUR-study is a prospective study in three Dutch hospitals. Post-bariatric body contouring surgery is the only treatment for complaints of excess skin, however, the risk of complications is high (14-70%). With most complications related to the extensive wounds, it is suggested that poor nutritional status after bariatric surgery affects the wound-healing process. The objective of this study is to assess the effect of correction of nutritional deficiencies prior to the surgery on the complication rate conforming to the new post-bariatric body contouring guideline from the NVPC. Nutritional deficiencies are corrected according to bariatric surgery protocol. Patients receive a protein enriched diet 4 weeks preoperatively up to 6 weeks postoperatively. The complication rate will be assessed using the Clavien-Dindo classication. We hypothesized less wound-related complications will arise in comparison to the existing literature.
