More information coming soon. Skull shape deformities are mainly caused by craniosynostosis or positional pressure. In normal development of the skull, several sutures are present that allow the brain to expand as the infant matures. Premature fusion results in a restriction of expansion and deformation. Although craniosynostosis or positional deformation diagnosis is usually made upon clinical judgment and confirmation by radiographic imaging in craniosynostosis, quantification of skull shape deformities is essential for research and clinical evaluation and outcome assessment of skull shape deformities. Our research is focused on developing a repeatable and reproducible method to differentiate and quantify different skull shapes.
