I currently work as both a principal investigator and resident-in-training at the Department of Plastic- Reconstructive- and Handsurgery, University Medical Center Utrecht, Utrecht, the Netherlands. I conduct research in Plastic- and Reconstructive Surgery, with a special interest in peripheral nerve surgery, lower extremity neuropathy and diabetic foot syndrome. Current projects include the 'The Rotterdam Diabetic Foot Study' and 'DeCompression (DECO) trial'. I have expertise in somatosensory testing, quantitative sensory testing, psychometrics, decision-analytic modelling, cost-effectiveness research (Markov modelling) and scale development (Mokken Scale Analysis and parametric forms of Item Response Theory).
