Currently I am working fulltime as a PhD student at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand surgery of the University Medical Center Utrecht. My research focusses on (compression) neuropathies in peripheral nerves. I am coordinating the DeCompression (DECO)-trial, a randomized controlled multicenter trial, which is conducted in eleven hospitals in the Netherlands. It is still unclear whether surgical treatment of compression neuropathies in the lower extremities in patients with Diabetes Mellitus is superior to non-surgical treatment. We want to investigate this in the DECO-trial. The participants will be randomized in one of the two treatment groups. Quality of live and cost-effectiveness are the main outcome measures.
