My research focuses on extremity reconstructions. I am working on The Dangle Study, a multicenter randomized controlled trial, focused on the postoperative management of lower extremity reconstructions. In case of insufficient tissue coverage of bone, tendons, vessels and/or nerves due to trauma or malignancy, a tissue transplant using a free flap can be performed by the plastic surgeon. In addition, through retrospective, anatomical, questionnaire and literature studies, we research other important issues for the patient and plastic surgeon regarding extremity reconstructions, such as pain, functionality, aesthetics and the course of nerves.
