Regenerative surgery
As regenerative surgeons, we focus on restoring form and function by harnessing biological repair and tissue regeneration strategies, particularly in the context of trauma, oncologic defects, and complex reconstructive challenges. Our research is inherently multidisciplinary, integrating surgery, cell biology, biomaterials, and clinical outcomes research to address unmet clinical needs from multiple perspectives. We conduct numerous studies on regenerative approaches in breast reconstruction following breast cancer, including the impact of radiotherapy on tissue regeneration and healing. In the field of trauma, we lead clinical trials evaluating regenerative strategies and postoperative protocols to optimize outcomes after complex lower limb reconstruction. In addition, we investigate regenerative and functional outcomes, as well as complications, following body-contouring procedures after massive weight loss.
